This itinerary moves through three very different environments. It begins in cool, green Lushoto, continues to the drier savannah of Mkomazi and finishes toward Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast. Mkomazi is particularly interesting for conservation-focused travel, birdlife and species associated with the northern dry-country ecosystem.

Day 3Lushoto to Mkomazi National Park

Drive from the Usambara highlands toward Mkomazi. Enter for an afternoon game drive if arrival time permits.
Day 4Mkomazi Safari to Tanga/Pangani Coast

Begin with a morning wildlife drive or a booked conservation activity, then continue toward the Indian Ocean coast.
